Disney Princess Cupcakes

*Blowing off the cobwebs*

Hi all! Whether anyone still reads this or not I have no idea but I am back and am going to share some Disney Princess cupcake designs with you all.

Long story short...I used to work for Pandora ( the charms and bracelet jewelers) and we were each given a Disney Princess name for our weekly incentives. I left Pandora and my manager then departed shortly after to a new store and decided she wanted to give the girls some Disney related cupcakes.

I had seen these all over Pinterest, the little sugar paper Princess toppers with a quick buttercream swirl that would be used to represent the dress. I took my time experimenting and finally came up with this design that uses a tiny replica of the Wilton 1M to create miniature roses that in my opinion give extra life to the dress.

These are a quick snippet of my favourites :) Hope you like them as much as I liked making them. x

Biscoff Cupcakes

If you didn't know me by now, I am all about the flavours! Chocolate...Oreos...Pink Lemonade... Chocolate Orange... Kinder Bueno...Reeses cupcakes etc. (you get the picture), whichever is the new yummy flavour out there I will always try to replicate that into a cupcake.
Let's just admire this for a second: BISCOFF. Firstly, you need to get your hands on the Lotus spread if you are yet to try it because it is heavenly/ mightly sickly but works perfectly to make Cookie Butter Cupcakes. And better still it is 100% dairy free!!! Yay!

As previously mentioned I have now found my signature style, the lovely swirl and 3 separate designs on a cupcake and think it works perfectly on these Biscoff cupcakes, simply topped with a Lotus biscuit.

The sponge themselves are moist and biscuit and contain both the Lotus spread along with biscuit shavings, then topped off with a cookie butter frosting with biscuit chunks, sprinkled with more biscuit! Sound good? They tasted even better!!

Spring Cupcake Designs & Mother's Day

Happy Good Friday to you all!

After looking through my Instagram photos I remembered I forgot to upload some photos of the Mother's Day orders I created. It was my first time doing a bouquet style order and although I enjoyed it, it certainly isn't as easy as it looks. Thank you so much to Laura who ordered the beautiful cupcakes for her Mother, I hope she enjoyed them as much as I loved decorating them.

You can now also PIN my images to Pinterest if you feel inspired by some of my designs :)!

Have a lovely Easter weekend!

Kathryn's Cupcakes Easter Designs 2016 - Cute Chic

Hello lovely cupcake lovers,

I've had what I like to think of as an exciting and successful week that I hope will bring lots of positive projects in the future. My website is now completely finished and I finally got round to buying my own domain name! YAY! No longer am I ... *insert name here*.com/kathryncupcakes, you can now officially find me and my cupcakes at http://www.kathrynscupcakes.co.uk

Now onto the yummy, scrummy chocolate Easter cupcakes for 2016!

These Easter cupcake chick designs are so cute and fun to make. I used my dairy free chocolate sponge recipe along with a dairy free chocolate buttercream of course and decorated the rest with some sprinkles.

Another reason I am excited is that I have finally found my signature cupcake design, yup the simple swirl and sprinkles along with some fondant to bring character to the cupcakes.

Homemade Lavender Sugar Scrub

Homemade Lavender Sugar Scrub Mothers Day Ideas DIY Body Scrub Gift

Having been a Pinterest addict these last few weeks, I have pinned a fair share of DIY Projects to try out. Following on from my previous post, today I decided to give it a go at creating a Homemade Lavender Sugar Scrub ready for Mother's Day!

My inspiration came from the wonderful Jamielyn at iheartnaptime.net where she published a wonderful Lemon Sugar Scrub recipe on her blog, however as I am going for a purple themed Mother's Day hamper this year I have slightly tweaked it and opted for Lavender oil instead.

What you'll need:

2 cups of white granulated sugar,
1/4 cup coconut oil
10 drops of lavender oil
Fresh lavender
Kilner Jar

Let's start!

Set aside the sugar in a large mixing bowl.
Measure out 1/4 cup of coconut oil and place it in a microwavable bowl. Heat the oil in the microwave for approximately 40-60 seconds, or until the oil has fully melted.
Pour the oil over the sugar and mix to combine.
Slowly add drops of  Lavender oil until it is strong enough (personal preference here), add the leaves of the lavender plant and stir to combine.

Place the contents into a jar (kilner, mason...whichever you fancy), flatten it all down and finish it all of with a lovely bow.

And there you have it, a simple handmade gift that costs near to nothing!

P.s The scrub is a little bit dried than the lemon scrub because it doesn't have that extra liquid, so maybe a few dabs of water would help if you like your scrubs a little softer, if not, go ahead and use the left over mix for your self, you deserve it!!

Mother's Day Hamper Ideas

Hello lovelies.

With Valentine's Day now out of the picture, the next event to get my creative flare flowing is the beloved Mother's Day

Valentine's Day was a huge hit! I presented my boyfriend with a tiny little envelope in the morning with a hand written clue that got him up and out of bed to take part in my handcrafted treasure hunt! Think cookie mixes in jars, fresh croissants in bed, cookie cutters in the shed and my favourite: a strawberry and banana breakfast smoothie in a Kilner Jar. Yup, I am all for those jars and he was certainly a happy bunny after making some fresh cookies in the morning.

Mother's Day is just round the corner and I've already got my ideas flowing on how to spoil my mum this year (plus I think she was a little bit jealous she wasn't included in the treasure hunt)!

These are just a few ideas I have so far, of course it'll include some flowers too and some chocolates, wouldn't be Mother's Day without!

What do you think? Do you have any ideas what else I could add?

Baby Shower Cupcakes

Baby Shower Cupcakes, Baby Boy Cupcakes, Fondant Face, Cute
 Hello lovelies!

Last week I was asked to bake some cute little baby shower cupcakes, not knowing if they were having a boy or girl. I had a few ideas but one special baby shower design is these adorable faces with a beanie hat, I promise you these are so simple to do and I bet you'll agree when I say they are the sweetest ickle faces you've ever seen on a cupcake.

The customer was extremely pleased and hopefully a few more orders will be on the way.

Congratulations!!

Yearly Recap

I honestly don't know how people keep up with this blogging business. As much as I love writing, taking and editing photos, it does half take up a lot of time doesn't it?

A year has been and gone and I must say I am extremely excited for 2016, not that I have a lot of plans, but I just feel like I've gone into the New Year with a high so I hope that continues throughout.

Let's take a step back.. and recap on the year of 2015 with some highlights!
In 2015 I..
Gained: Two guinea pigs, an amazing boyfriend, a second cousin & a kitchen aid.
Visited: Cornwall, Edinburgh, Plymouth & Majorca
Attended: a Nicki Minaj concert, Radio 1's Big Weekend in Norwich & 2 of my cousins Weddings

I also developed a logo for my cupcakes, business cards and a website

I hope you all had an excellent year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2015
X
