Having been a Pinterest addict these last few weeks, I have pinned a fair share of DIY Projects to try out. Following on from my previous post, today I decided to give it a go at creating a Homemade Lavender Sugar Scrub ready for Mother's Day!
My inspiration came from the wonderful Jamielyn at iheartnaptime.net where she published a wonderful Lemon Sugar Scrub recipe on her blog, however as I am going for a purple themed Mother's Day hamper this year I have slightly tweaked it and opted for Lavender oil instead.
What you'll need:
2 cups of white granulated sugar,
1/4 cup coconut oil
10 drops of lavender oil
Fresh lavender
Kilner Jar
Let's start!
Set aside the sugar in a large mixing bowl.
Measure out 1/4 cup of coconut oil and place it in a microwavable bowl. Heat the oil in the microwave for approximately 40-60 seconds, or until the oil has fully melted.
Pour the oil over the sugar and mix to combine.
Slowly add drops of Lavender oil until it is strong enough (personal preference here), add the leaves of the lavender plant and stir to combine.
Place the contents into a jar (kilner, mason...whichever you fancy), flatten it all down and finish it all of with a lovely bow.
And there you have it, a simple handmade gift that costs near to nothing!
P.s The scrub is a little bit dried than the lemon scrub because it doesn't have that extra liquid, so maybe a few dabs of water would help if you like your scrubs a little softer, if not, go ahead and use the left over mix for your self, you deserve it!!
